Dovie Leona Bain Culpepper, 90, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, in a hospital in Bartlett.

She was a member of Benton First Baptist Church, a member of the Polk County Retired Teachers, retired from the Tennessee Department of Human Services and taught Sunday school for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis " Cy" Culpepper; son, Bryan Culpepper; parents, S.E. Bain and Annie Curbow Bain; brothers: Melvin Bain and S.E. Bain Jr.; and sister, Dollie Bain Hawkins.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Denise Culpepper of Bartlett; grandchildren: Brad Culpepper of Deltona, Fla., and Kelly Lee and husband, Jason, of Bartlett; great-grandchildren: Jackson Bryan Lee and Emma Kate Lee, both of Bartlett, and Andrew Bradley Culpepper of Deltona, Fla.; brother, Clyde Bain; and sister, Dorothy Bain Carson.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. today, June 4, 2009, at Higgins Funeral Home in Benton with the Rev. Robbie Speights officiating.

Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Benton Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home prior to the service.
