Bernadine I. "Bernie" Miller, 94, died at 7:51 p.m. Dec. 27, 2010, at Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center, Glandorf.

She was born March 15, 1916, in Kalida to Charles "Carl" and Johanna Sanders Gerdeman, who preceded her in death. On June 24, 1942, she married Norbert R. Miller, who died Jan. 18, 1980. They were married for 37 years.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and had worked at Westinghouse Electric Corp., Lima, before she was married. She was also a cook at Paradise Oaks Center for several years, after raising her family. She was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale, and its Altar Rosary Society and had been a Eucharist minister for several years. She enjoyed gardening, her flower beds, working in her yard, going to church, quilting and was an excellent cook. She was known for her bread-making skills, her fruit jams and jellies and her delicious pies. Her top priority and greatest love was her family. She will forever be a part of her family and those people's lives she touched.

Survivors include two sons, Paul T. (Mary Jane) Miller, of Kalida, and Mark E. (Pam) Miller, of Cloverdale; two daughters, Anne M. (Ron) Hemker, of Ottoville, and Rita J. (Kenn) Beining, of Fort Jennings; 20 grandchildren, Paul Jr., Tony, Jared, Dominic, Nicholas, Zachary and Isaiah Miller, Brian and Josh Hemker, Nathan, Darren and Kristin Beining, Francine Miller, Bridget Miller, Tina Beckman, Steph Warnecke, Teresa Schwiebert, Michelle Jaross, Sarah Hemker and Joy Martz; 27 great-grandchildren, Alexis and Aiden Beckman, Caelan and Kennedy Warnecke, Garret, Gavin and Gracyn Schwiebert, Emily, Kendra, Morgan, Evan, Brandon, Adyson, Deegan and Dawson Miller, Abby and Larissa Hemker, Addison Glista-Hemker, Maya Jaross, Ryan, Zachary, Ashley, Bryce, Kaige and Karter Beining and Gwyneth and Ava Martz; a brother-in-law, Alfred Miller, of Cloverdale; and a sister-in-law, Thecla Miller, of San Diego.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Aloysius, Lawrence and Otto Gerdeman; and two sisters, Lidwina Kaufman and infant Mary Gerdeman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Cloverdale. The Rev. John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a Scripture service will be held at 2 p.m., followed by an Altar Rosary Society service.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Barbara Catholic Church, St. Barbara Cemetery Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to recognize all of her caregivers at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa, for all of their love and support over the last nine years.
