Mrs. Akard was a graduate of Shortridge High School and Indiana University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She married her husband of 62 years, Jacob "Judy" Akard on November 4, 1941 in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Akard helped her husband operate Akard's Hardware in Zionsville, which was founded in 1955. They both retired in 1974 to Port Charlotte, FL where they enjoyed 25 years until returning in 1999.
Mrs. Akard was a past member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority in Zionsville. She is survived by her husband, Jacob "Judy" Akard; sons, Steve and Jim Akard; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Services entrusted to Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center - Zionsville with burial in Zionsville Cemetery.
