Services for Jimmie L. Mayfield, 80, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Peoples Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob McKenzie and the Rev. Sedrick Moore officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co., Tyler.
Mr. Mayfield died May 28, 2009, in a Tyler hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1928, in Smith County. He attended Tyler public schools, was a lifelong resident of Smith County and was a member of House of Prayer Praise and Worship Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Admiral Mayfield and stepmother, Estella Mayfield.
Survivors include his sons, Jimmy Kennedy Sr. (Zelma) and Tony Allen; daughter, Yolanda "Tina" Kay, all of Tyler; and five grandchildren, April Taylor, Roderick Kay, Jimmy Kennedy Jr., Jermaine Kennedy and Jamal Kennedy.
