Daugther of David Hitchcock and Sarah Swan Hitchcock. Reportedly born in Great Barrington, MA.

First married to Caleb Strong Bassett; reportedly married on June 5, 1828 in Manchester, Conn. Caleb reportedly was born October 3, 1807 in Northbridge, MA. His father was reportedly Simeon Bassett, mother was Abigail Huse Bassett. Member of Congregational church; occupation not known at this time.

Children: Henry, Elizabeth, Sylvester, William.

Caleb reportedly died about 1836 on a trip "west",possibly in Pennsylvania, but his exact whereabouts have not been conclusively proven. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Second marriage was to Gordon T Mallett, on January 26, 1842 in Lee County, Iowa. Two children: Annette and Josephine. Widowed in 1855.

Third marriage on June 14, 1857 in Washington County, Iowa to recently widowed John Van Nostrand. He is buried at Old Fairfield Cemetery with his first wife Eliza.
