Cletus served as a Technician Fifth Grade, Company D, 184th Infantry Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in York County, Maine prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 20, 1943 in Portland, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a routemen and also as Single, without dependents.

Cletus was "Killed In Action" on Okinawa during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Okinawa and was later repatriated here on March 7, 1949.
