Charles C. Hackney, 82, 808 S. Walnut St., died at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, in his home. Mr. Hackney became ill Friday. He had lived in Fairmount 55 years and was a retired merchant. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Paoli. Mr. Hackney started the first machine shop in Fairmount. This shop later turned into Fairmount's first garage. He was an active worker with the Democrat party. Survivors include the widow, Idah; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Woodruff, RR 6, Marion; Mrs. Helen Hazelbaker, San Francisco; and Mrs. Faith Parsons, Fairmount; two sons, Cameron, Carmichael, Calif.; and Harold, Fairmount; two step-daughters, Mrs. Wilma Marshall, Carlisle, Ohio; and Mrs. Hilda Bush, Dayton, Ohio; a step-son, Walter Ross, Dayton; a brother, Albert, Indianapolis; a sister, Mrs. Alpha Starry, Joliet, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held a Hunt's Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, with Xen Harvey officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dale Bardsley……
