My Great Aunt Ella was born Ella Estella Lowry to John B and Mary Ann "Polly" Mizer Lowry in Laclede Co Mo. Ella married John William Bullis on 22 June 1887. Children: Walden Jay, Nina Inez Bullis Garland Jolley, James Vernest, Joseph Ernest Ira, Vida Iona 1894-1895, Clarence 1897-1897,Thelma Ocena Bullis Bottom, and William Donovan Bullis. After John death in 1913 she on 26 March 1919 married James William "Dick" Mathis. Divorce in 1930 she is on Missouri census as Bullis with son Donovan. In 1940 Missouri census is alone age 71. On 22 Dec 1957 she died in Los Angeles where she was likely with Donovan who died there in 1963 or Joseph who died there in 1975 any way she was returned to Jasper County for burial by husband John W. Bullis in the Bullis fmily plot. She was a wonderful quilt maker. I only has wished I had met her.
