On March 9, 1916, at her home at Arthur Center, occurred the death of Mrs. E. E. Spicer at the age of 62 years, 10 months and 15 days.
Frances E. Perry was born in Providence Twp., Lucas Co., Ohio, April 24, 1853. Her early life was spent in this locality and on Aug. 5, 1876, she was united in marriage with Elymas E. Spicer. To this union eleven children were born of whom all but one with the husband survive.
They are Mrs. U.G. Keeler and Mrs. John Bauer of Vestaberg, Mich; Mrs. John Barber and Charles C. of Ohio; Mrs. Fred Athey, Mrs. Harry Cleveland and Mrs. Warren Heiser of this vicinity; and Floyd S., Ira C. and Alta M. who reside at home. Thirty three grand children and one great grand child also survive. Besides the family she also leaves three sisters, one half sister, and three brothers, all of whom live in Ohio.
The family moved to Michigan in fall of 1910 and in her short residence here she had gained many friends. She was converted to Christ in early life and though never actively engaged in church work, was a faithful follower of the truth.
Home was her haven and the family mourn a truly devoted wife and mother. Through all her suffering her faith never wavered and at last she calmly fell asleep in Jesus.
The funeral, conducted by Rev. Frank Bates, was held at Arthur Town Hall on March 11 with burial in Arthur Cemetery.
