ROCKTON - Leland John Hanson, 81, of Rockton, died March 20, 2002 ub Highview Retirement Home in Rockford.
He was born Jan. 31, 1921 in Durand, Ill., the son of John and Sarah (Polglas) Hanson. He was employed ny Beatrice foods for 36 years, retiring in 1976. He then farmed full time, retiring in 1992. He was a World war II veteran serving in the U.S. Naval Service Coast Guard. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Beloit and Moose Lodge, Janesville. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and had attended the University of Wisconsin. He married Barbara Conklin Nov. 11, 1961, in Beloit.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, of Rockton; his step-son, Guy Callahan of Sun Prairie, Wis,; grandchildren Sean Callahan (Julie), Chad Callahan (Kimberly); sisters Florence Diemer of Madison and Bernice Korbal of Beloit, Myrtle Stefenbson of Beloit; brothers Melvin of Beloit, Milton (Florence) Hanson of Beloit; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002 in the McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton with Eric McKnight of Shirland United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Rockton Township Cemetery.
