Charlie and his sons would haul dirt in a wagon pulled by mules to form the road foundation. Charlie's son Walter was the youngest boy at that time who was old enough to help with the chores, his job was to carry water in water pails from creeks or etc. for the family's use and for the mules. Walter became known as "water boy". Many years later Walter went to Neshoba county to visit family he hadn't seen in many years, when they saw him in their excitement they exclaimed, "That's water boy".
