Albert Emil Gustave Bast was born on December 7, 1901 to Frank and Carrie (Schultz) Bast in Belle River Township where he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He resided in the Miltona area throughout his life, except for the time he spent in the military service. Albert and Esther Hogberg were married November 1, 1947 in Plentywood, Montana. He worked as a carpenter and also enjoyed spending time fishing.
Albert died November 25, 1991 at Bethany Home in Alexandria less than a month before his 90th birthday. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sons, Albert and Arnold, a brother, Frank and a sister, Clara. Albert is survived by his wife, Esther, two brothers: Robert of Miltona and Emil of Minneapolis; and one sister: Mrs. Edwin (Carolyn) Fritz of Hastings, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church of Miltona on November 27, 1991, with Rev. Donald Erickson officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Bast, Jr., Donavan Bast, Rodney Allebach, Gerald Bast, Tom Gerard and Glen Bast. Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Anderson Funeral Home of Alexandria.
