Joseph Louis Zipkin February 23, 1921 - January 16, 2008 DANIELSON, Joseph Louis Zipkin, 86, of Westfield Avenue, died Wednesday at Haven Health Center after a battle with lung cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, February 23, 1921, son of the late Abraham W. and Molly (Shulman) Zipkin. He was married to Estelle Okun Zipkin, who survives him. Mr. Zipkin was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps and was an experienced pilot and airplane mechanic. He also worked in the jewelry business and spent the rest of his career as a cost accountant for the Rogers Corporation. A longtime resident of Danielson, Mr. Zipkin was active in local government, having served as Commissioner of Police, on the Zoning Board of Appeals, as Borough Clerk Treasurer and on the Town Council. Besides his wife Estelle he is survived by his four children, Laura Jean Zipkin of Killingly, David Michael Zipkin of Killingly, Alan Jeffrey Zipkin of San Francisco, CA and Donna Michelle Zipkin of Killingly; his brother, Samuel Zipkin of Manchester, CT; his sister, Elissa Carignan of FL and many nieces and nephews.
