Terry R. Mullen, 49, Canton, formerly of Norwood and Potsdam, died Friday at Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg. He had been ill with cancer.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Newman Center, Potsdam. Burial will be in Foxwood Memorial Park, Ogdensburg.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, a twin brother, and another brother, a sister, a niece, two nephews and an aunt.

Born Nov. 16, 1945, in Ogdensburg, son of Harold and Beulah Mullen, he graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1963 and received bachelor's and master's degrees from Buffalo State University College. He did further graduate work at St. Lawrence University and was certified in public school administration.

Mr. Mullen had been employed by the Potsdam Central School District since 1967. He taught an art program at A.A. Kingston Middle School and was selected in the early 1980s by the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services to conduct computer training programs for school administrators.

He was active with the Potsdam Lions Club and held many local, zone and district offices. He was district governor of District 20W, Lions of New York and Bermuda, from 1979 to 1980. He was a frequent chairman of the Potsdam Lions Expo and wrote and directed the club's "Murder Mystery" dinners.

In 1993, Mr. Mullen received the Lions International President's Award for outstanding service. He was a member of the state Lions Past District Governors Association.

Mr. Mullen was baseball and soccer coach for the Potsdam Youth Programs and a Little League and All-Star coach for the Tri-Town Little League. He was former co-chairman of the Potsdam Heart Fund and vice chairman of the St. Lawrence County Heart Board.
