RUFUS N. RUNYON, 65, DIES LATE MONDAY
FUNERAL THURSDAY FOR FARMER OF GENEVA R.R. 1
Rufus N. Runyon, 65, well known Nottingham Township, Wells County farmer, died at 5:45 p.m. Monday at the Adams County Memorial Hospital following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Runyon resided west of Linn Grove on Geneva R. R. 1. Death was attributed to carcinoma
M. Runyon had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill since Christmas. He was admitted to the hospital a few days before his death but had spent some time in the hospital soon after the holidays.
A native of Hartford Township, Mr. Runyon was born June 6, 1891, the son of Smith and Sarah Runyon. He was married to Fannie Mae Alden in Oklahoma in 1919. Most of his life was spent in the Linn Grove community.
Surviving are the wife; a step-son, Ralph Alden, Fort Wayne; a grandson, Rowland Alden, an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps who is stationed at Parris Island, S.C.; two granddaughters, Sonia Sue and Wanda Sue Alden; a brother, Ernest Runyon, Bryant, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Smith, Lawrenceville, Illinois. A brother, David Runyon, is deceased.
The body is at the Hardy and Hardy Funeral Home in Geneva where friends may call and where services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Robert Coovert, Portland, formerly of Linn Grove, officiating. Burial will be in Six Mile Cemetery near Bluffton.
