Lillie J. Jordan, 84, of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Benjamin Jordan, died on Monday (June 1, 2009) after a brief illness. Lillie was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on various ministries.


She was born on December 30, 1924 to the late Annie L. (Graham) and Ben Graves in Pamplico, SC.


She leaves to cherish her memory her loving, caring, children, Annie L. Jones, May Tyson (Samuel) of West Hartford, Caroline Gonsalves (Rev. Joaquin) of South Windsor, Elaine Jones of East Hartford and Michelle Boseman (Matthew, Jr.) of Bloomfield; her aunts, Minnie Ruth Daniels, Susie Timmons, Lucille Smalls all of South Carolina; Ethel Bruce of New York; an uncle, Douglas Robinson of New York; two nieces, Annie Dora McNeil of Pompano Beach, FL, Nettie Watson and one nephew Lamar Graham of South Carolina. She also leaves nine beloved grandchildren; her nine treasured great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and four godchildren; one special granddaughter, SFC stationed in Iraq, Rhonda Stockton. She was predeceased by a son, Reginald Jones; a daughter, Georgia Alice Jones; one sister, Mattie Lee Hunter; two brothers, Robert Graham and James C. Cockfield; one grandson, Michael Jones. Equally important, Lillie leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and adopted family.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, 2051 Main Street, Hartford, at 11 a.m., with calling hours from 9-11 a.m.
Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 453 Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
