MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — Opal Armstrong, 89, formerly of Marked Tree, died at St. Joseph Hospital in Baltimore on May 30. She was making her home with her daughter in Middle River, Md.
She was a member of the Church of God and was a talented seamstress who made beautiful quilts and loved gardening and her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Edna Comstock; daughters, Eula Mae Carter and Ann Sweigart; son, Leroy Armstrong; and three brothers, Willard, Wilford and Wilburn Comstock.
She is survived by her daughters, Gale Flippo of Madera, Calif., and Sue Upton of Middle River; sister, Charlie Garrison of Marked Tree; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel with services following at 11 a.m. Patrick Tucker will officiate. Interment will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.
