Anna was born as Anna Louisa Laatsch in Hamilton County, OH. She was the daughter of 2 German immigrants: Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Laatsch and Katherina Barbara Steiger, both of whom had independently settled in Hamilton County and lived just a few houses apart, per the US Census. They moved to Alabama around 1880 and settled in Hanceville, Cullman County, AL.

In Hanceville, Anna met and married my Great Grandfather - Johann Heinrich Hahn (later named John Henry Hahn). He had also recently immigrated from Germany to Hanceville with his Uncle Johann Heinrich Meyer and his family.

Anna and Henry had 4 children:
Ellie Louise "Nell" Hahn Schuster
Harry Heinrich (later Henry) Hahn,
Frederick "Fred" Karl (later Carl) Hahn, and
Herbert "Hub" Ludwig (later Louis) Hahn.
