Professor R M McIntosh was prominent in writing and publishing religious hymnals during the latter part of the 19th century. Part of this time he organized and operated the music department of Emory College.Hymn writer and music editor. Taught music at Vanderbilt in Nashville and Emory in Oxford, GA. He was music editor of the Methodist Episcopal Church South Publishing company for over thirty years. He wrote the music for "Am I a Soldier of the Cross?" "On Jordan's Stormy Banks," Take My life, and Let it Be," and "The Gospel is for All."
