Death of Fred Franklin
We are pained to announce the death of Fred Franklin, of Verona township, which occurred on Tues., the 26th inst., at his residence. He had been affected for a number of years with consumption, and his death, though expected at any time, has cast a gloom over that community. He was buried on Thursday, the funeral services being conducted at the residence by Rev. I. M. Marsh.
Mr. Franklin was a brother of John Franklin of this city. He was born in Leon, Cattaraugus County, N.Y., and at the time of his death was 45 years old.
In 1850 he removed to Columbia County, Wisconsin, and engaged in farming, and in 1858 came to Minnesota, and settled in Verona, where he has since lived.
He has filled several important town offices since then, and has always been looked upon as an upright man and a valuable citizen. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss.
