Marion K. Hartzell, 88, of Mount Bethel, died Saturday, May 16, at Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Washington Township.

Born April 5, 1921, in Dunmore, she the daughter of the late Roland James and Ada May (Simons) Stevens.

Her husband, Paul T. Hartzell, died last year.

She and her late husband, Paul, were self-employed wallpaper hangers and painters in the Mount Bethel area until retiring.

She was a graduate of Bangor High School.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Mount Bethel, where she served as Adult Sunday School Superintendent, was a member of the Adult Choir, the Women's Guild and the Consistory. Marion also served on the History Committee, the Disciple Committee and the Worship Committee, and as a Penn Northeast Conference Delegate.

She was a member and Past Worthy Matron from 1984 to 1985 of the Shutanka Chapter No. 202, Order of the Eastern Star, in Pen Argyl, was a Past Worthy Matron from 1952 to 1953 of the former Ethel Chapter, O.E.S., in Bangor, and served as a Past District Deputy Grand Matron for District 24, and was a Golden Star Member. She was also a member of the Blue Valley Garden Club and served on the board of directors of Reformed Cemetery Association in Upper Mount Bethel Township.

She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22, in Trinity United Church of Christ, 632 S. Delaware Drive, Mount Bethel, with Rev. William Shrout officiating. Call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 21, in the Reed/Gaffney Funeral Home, 4 Lillian Lane, Village of Johnsonville, Bangor. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Upper Mount Bethel Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 632 S. Delaware Drive, Mount Bethel, PA 18343.
