Mr. Derrick Corneil McDonald, Sr.:
Born January 21, 1958 departed this life at his home March 3, 2000. A native of Mobile and a resident of Chickasaw, AL was the sixth of seven children born to the late Mr. Clarence McDonald, Sr. and Lucy Ruth McDonald. He graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School in 1976, attended Jackson State University and served in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1994. He embraced Christ at an early age and attended St. James Catholic Church until he later joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where he was baptized by Rev. J.J. Phillips in 1977. He devotedly served as president of the J.J. Phillips Inspirational Chorus for a number of years. He also tenaciously served as President of the Vigor High School Band Booster. He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted and loving wife, Mary Ann Clark McDonald; a loving mother, Mrs. Lucy McDonald; two devoted and loving children, Brandy McDonald and Derrick Corneil McDonald, Jr.; six siblings, a devoted brother, Mr. Dwight (Linda) McDonald, Sr., Mr. Eddie (Alma) McDonald, Mr. Clarence McDonald, Jr., all of Mobile; a devoted sister Faye (Esau) Miller, Brenda King and Brian (Christine) McDonald, all of California; three devoted sisters-in-law, Mrs. Annie (Jerome) Watkins, Mrs. Joyce Clark Redd, Mrs. Alberta (Timothy) Hosea, all of Mobile; one brother-in-law, Richard Bell, Atlanta, GA; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, one devoted, Thomas Redd, Jr., cousins, other relatives and friends; two devoted friends, Charles Meredith and Mr. Willie Rogers and a loyal pet, Pepper McDonald. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Whistler at 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral hour with the Rev. J.J. Phillips Pastor and Officiating Minister. Interment will be in the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to HODGES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 701 Dr. M. L. King Ave, Mobile, AL.
