Clinton Buford "Pete" Akers, 71, of Dublin, passed away Friday, May 3, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late Frank H. & Nannie Linkous Akers. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Alice W. Akers of Dublin; daughter, Debra Jones of Manquin; son, Clinton B. (Kenny) Akers, Jr. of Radford; step-mother, Mary Alger of Radford; five brothers, Willard Akers, Robert Akers, and Walter Akers all of Dublin; Raymond Akers and Larry Akers of Radford; three sisters, Barbara Akers, Sylvia Farmer and Imogene Sutliff all of Radford; five grandchildren, Aaron and Ian Akers, and Christy, Kodie and Luke Jones. Graveside services will be held Monday, May 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Hickman Cemetery in Pulaski County, with the Rev. Joe McCoy officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, as per Mr. Akers request his body was cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Carilion Hospice Services of the New River Valley, 707 Randolph St. Suite 251, Radford, VA, 24141. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home and Crematory in Radford.
