Son of the late Walter Murrah and Pearl Vaughn Murrah, born in Taylor County April 7, 1927. He died at 4:40 a.m., Friday, Sept. 26, 1986, at his home after an extended illness.
He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a trustee, a member of the building committee, treasurer, deacon and elder.
He owned and operated Campbellsville Gulf Service for many years and retired from Union Underwear Company in 1982.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country in the United States Army.
He united in marriage to Frances Caldwell May 7, 1949.
To this union one daughter was born, Fran.
Besides his wife and daughter, he is survived by one grandson and one granddaughter, Jennifer and Marshall; his step-mother, Anna; two sisters: Lucille and Betty; one half-brother: James; one aunt: Imogene; several other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Vera Mae Murrah died in infancy, Vernon Murrah in 1951, and Joe Murrah in 1985.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Ron L. Ferree. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were: Tom Gupton, L. M. Read, Jr., Howard Kerr, Eugene McMahan, Boyce Curry and Herman Allen. Honorary pallbearers were: Arthur Hayes, Bobby Roots, Richard Clark, Lawrence Roots, Steve Campbell, Temple Kirtley, Raymond Haynes, A. C. Berry, David Johnson, Ivan Quinn, Kenneth Adams, Charles Richardson, Forest Rhinehart, Raymond Clark, Barnes Phillips, Harold Wilkerson, Glen Smith, Glenwood Shipp and Steve Mills.
