Emma Eloise Richard, 64, of Hayes died at 9:45 PM Saturday, March 14, 2009 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Richard was born August 11, 1944 to Lydia and Russell Gravelle in Jennings, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Jennings High School in 1962. Mrs. Richard went on to beauty school and became a beautician and was a hair stylist for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hayes where she was the music leader and she faithfully attended bible study for many years. In her spare time she volunteered at Humana Hospital as a Pink Lady. She spent most of her time helping others. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Mr. Newitt Gentry Richard of Hayes, Louisiana, two sons Russell Roy Richard and his wife Kaye of Iota, LA and Michael Gregg Richard and companion Samantha Gaspard of Hayes, LA, two brothers Jess Gravelle of Houston, TX and Lemuel Gravelle of Lafayette, LA, four grandchildren: Keegan LeJeune, Cory Richard, Deneyea Gaspard and Joseph Gaspard. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary DarDar will officiate. Burial will be in the Hayes Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
