Marcella Glenn Painter, 78, passed away in Vinita, Okla., early Dec. 31, 2007. A longtime resident, she had been afflicted with cancer.
Mrs. Painter was born June 9, 1929, to Earnest and Emma (Blevins) Glenn of Christian County. She was united in marriage to Leslie Earl Painter in Nov. 1946. He owned and operated Vinita Dental Laboratory for many years, and she worked as bookkeeper until the lab closed in October of 2000.
Marcella loved plants and flowers, and her cats. She was quite a cook and also enjoyed shopping, dining and traveling. In her younger years, Marcella also loved to go fishing with her family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Randy Painter and wife Barbara of Muskogee, Okla; a daughter, Beverly Garcia and husband Mark of Norman, Okla.; two sisters, Donna Melton and husband Dale of Willard, and Wanda Crowe and husband Harlan of Springfield; three grandchildren, Joshua Garcia of Norman, Okla., Patrick Painter and wife Jennifer of Blue Ash, Ohio, and Jennifer Honn and husband Jesse of Tulsa; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Painter, Madeline Painter, and Zoe Honn; and several nieces and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leslie in 2000; sister Rosella Allen in 2006; and an infant sister, Juanita, in 1927.
The family received visitors Jan. 2 at Burkhalter Funeral Home, Vinita.
Graveside services were held Jan. 3, 2008 at Selmore Cemetery in Selmore, with Chuck Eakins officiating, under the direction of Greenlawn East Funeral Home of Springfield. Local arrangements were under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home of Vinita, Okla.
