Kenneth's grave was moved to the Lindon City Cemetery. He was buried next to his wife Velma on May 4, 2006.

Kenneth R. Gillman, 78, died May 9, 1991 at his home from cancer.

He was born on October 16, 1912, the son of James W. Gillman and Emma Robbins Gillman. He married Velma Newbold on January 29, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He worked for forty years as Maintenance Foreman for Provo River Water Users, before his retirement. At the time of his death, he was president of the Provo River Water Users Assoc., president of the North Union Canal, and vice president of the Big Bench Canal. He was very active in many civic and community affairs, serving on the Lindon City Council, chairman of the Lindon City Planning Commission, and chairman of the Lindon Fair.

Throughout his life he maintained a great love for horses, both judging, and announcing various equestrian events for many years. He was one of the original directors of the Utah Quarter Horse Association, and later went on to serve as president of the Organization. In 1982, he was inducted into the UQHA Hall of Fame. He was State and District director of the Utah Riding Club Association for many years. President of the Pleasant Grove Riding Club, and the Timp Riding Club. He served for many years as chairman of the Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days Rodeo, and was still on the rodeo committee at the time of his passing. He organized the celebration, and served as chairman of that event until the current time. He and his wife served as Grand Marshalls of both the Strawberry Days Parade in 1985, and the Lindon Horsemanship events, his favorite of which was cow cutting. He was an active member in the LDS Church, holding the office of High Priest.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Newbold Gillman, Lindon; three daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Maxine) Carlisle, Minnesota; Mrs. John (Charleen) Bylund, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Harry (Judy) Peacock, Pleasant Grove; one sister, Mrs. Viola Walker, Salt Lake City; one stepsister, Mrs. Vern Gardner, Ogden; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter and seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services Monday, at 11 a.m., Lindon 3rd Ward, 25 North Main, Lindon. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South at 300 East, Pleasant Grove, or Monday, at the church, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
