Enlisted in Company E, 25th Regiment, Alabama Infantry Volunteers, Confederate States Army. Letter from him, dated April 11, 1863, he was a patient in the Gilmer Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Reported to have been buried in the Confederate Cemetery in Chattanooga.

Married August 23, 1849 to Mary Tabitha-Cumi (Guyton).
