Jan served as a Sergeant, Company F, 51st Infantry, II Field Force, U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He resided in Hartly, Delaware prior to joining the Army.

Jan was "Killed In Action" by enemy fire near Tay Ninh during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart.

The following was noted by : Dan Pat: Even though Sgt. Henrickson was actually from Delaware he was buried in Hawaii with an Hawaii marker because his father Clarence Henrickson was living on 91454 Pupu St, Ewa Beach, Hawaii at the time of his passing.
