Ruth Marie Bylund, 75, died unexpectedly at her home in Alexandria on November 25, 2006. Ruth was born June 24, 1931 on a farm north of Brandon to Eugene and Lydia (Koeplin) Hagedorn. During her young years she lived at Brandon "Gene's Log Cabin" Café and Filling Station in Osakis, Alexandria and Camp Omaha on Lake Ida.
On april 20, 1949 ruth married Alan Gerald Bylund. To this union four daughters were born. Alan died in 1985. She lived a majority of her adult life at her home on Lake Agnes in Alexandria. She worked for a time at the post office and co-owned the "Coffee Cup" café. She was a member of the Eagles.
Ruth was a hard worker and always busy doing something. She liked fishing, gardening, cooking, baking and trying new recipes. She especially enjoyed her latest pastime the computer. Loads of e-mails and jokes were sent each day to family and friends. She was "Queenbee. One of her favorite places to go was to the casino, whether to gamble or to take in a concert. She loved dancing and could dance for hours. She enjoyed spending time and holidays with her family.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Marvin) Lanus of Fergus Falls, Gwen Kline of Eagan, Devona (Paul) Vendel of Alexandria, Geri (Bruce) Larson of Andover; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; her sister, Irma (Alex) Anderson of Sauk Centre; and her special friend, Ross Rud.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lydia Hagedorn; husband, Alan Bylund; granddaughter, Dacia Pelaccio; great granddaughter, Kaitlynn; and nephew, Robert Anderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held November 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria with Father Al Ludwig officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Casket bearers were Paul Vendel, Marvin Lanus, Bruce Larson, Jon Kline, Shane Vendel, Cole Vendel, Michael Larson and Brendan Janssen. Honorary casket bearers were her granddaughters. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
