J. W. Cochran, 85, Of Windom, Dies

WINDOM – Mr. J. W. Cochran, 85, of Windom died suddenly from a heart attack at the home of his son, Chester Cochran, at St. Francis, Kans. He had not been ill prior to his death.

Mr. Cochran was born on Jan. 4, 1874, at Altamont, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Cochran. He was married Sept. 5, 1897, at Windom to Lou Emma Neal. Mr. Cochran came to Windom in 1878 and operated a grocery store here for 40 years before retiring. Mrs. Cochran died three years ago.

Survivors include four sons, Chester of St. Francis; Clifford of Greensburg; Emmett of San Bruno, Calif., and Ailiff of Indio, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Rice Hebrew, Garden City; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at the Windom Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Bean Cemetery at Little River.
