Son of Jean Baptiste Deguire dit LaRose (1790-1859) and Cecile Govero or Govereau (1813-1845).

Married Cecilia Morice on 23 Feb 1867, and had the following children:

Military Service:
Israel was attached to several Units during the War. It appears he entered service on 24 Dec 1861 at New Madrid, MO with 3rd Battery, MO Light Artly. He was made a POW on 4 July 1863 when Vicksburg, MS was surrendered then paroled a few days later. However, after being paroled, he rejoined the fighting and finally surrendered on 4 May 1865 at Citronelle, AL.
