Elizabeth Jane Glasgow, Eliza as she was called in the family and by friends, was the daughter of Henry Davis and Cecelia Cox Glasgow, born March 27, 1835. She Married Patrick John McCarthy in 1853. They remained married until his death 9 Sept 1901 in Trenton Grundy Co MO. She never remarried. The death certificate gave the cause of death as severe chronic bronchitis and complications of senility with secondary contributing factors being a fall that fractured several ribs. Cecilia McCarthy Nolan, Eliza's daughter who gave the info for the death certificate, was named to honor Eliza's own mother. The address listed on the death certificate was Cecelia's home. Cecelia cared for both parents at the end of their lives when they became too ill to care for themselves.

Eliza and John Patrick McCarthy had 13 children, 6 surviving to remember and mourn them. The 6 surviving children were Mrs. J. W. (Catherine) Drinkard, Mrs. G. G. (Cecilia) Nolan, Patrick E. McCarthy, Mrs. Hugh (Mary Caroline) Donohue, Charles McCarthy and Joseph McCarthy.

Although Eliza died in St. Joseph, Missouri, she was brought back to Trenton where she and her children were well known, respected and loved, to be buried near her husband Patrick, and several of their children in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
