Theodore Kuhl was born in Hayes Township, Crawford County, June 25, 1883
whose parents were Claus and Annie Dittmer Kuhl of Germany , and Manilla, Iowa.
To this union was born Celia, Lizzie, Theodore, Herman, Dora, Henry, William,
Caroline, Emma, Hulda and Martha..


Theodore married Thora Hein who was born in Germany and came to America at the
age of one. Her parents were Herman and Marie Volmert Hein. To this union was
born Louis, Lena, Minnie, Thora, William and Alma..


Theodore and Thora were married January 16, 1907. They made their home and
farmed in Paradise Township for a number of years and later moved to Denison
Township and continued farming until Theodore's death. To their union were born
Viola and Hazel..


Theodore, better known as "Ted", drove one of the first Ford cars in the Denison
area. He died on January 31, 1929, and Throa died on march 25, 1947. .


Viola married Walter C. Waetje, and lived in Ames, Iowa. They later moved to
Arizona..


Hazel married Leslie Hendricksen, and lived in Buena Vista County, and Sioux
City, Iowa..


The Kuhl family plots are in the Oakland Cemetery.".

Additional note: I remember Hazel telling that her father went to help their
neighbors whose daughter was ill during a spinal meningitis epidemic and he
contracted the disease and died. That neighbor family was her future in-laws,
the Hendricksens whose two year old daughter Lorraine died. I believe Mrs.
Hendricksen had been very ill also. Lorraine Hendricksen died 27 Jan 1929; Ted
on 31 Jan 1929.
