Lewis Murl "Shorty" Allen

Services for Lewis Murl "Shorty" Allen, 80, Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Don Harvey and Randy Allen officiating.

Burial will be in Reese Cemetery.

Mr. Allen died Saturday, April 11, 2009. at his residence.

He was born in Van on July 8, 1928, to the late Mason and Alma Allen. He married the love of his life, Juanita Keith Allen in 1949 and they made Jacksonville their home. He was a Baptist and a retired painter. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Monk Allen, Luchies Allen, Junior Allen, Calvin Allen, Earl Allen and Wesley Allen, and sisters, Virginia and Jessie Marie Allen.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juanita Keith Allen; daughters, Cindy Bollinger and husband Mike of Gallatin, and Vickie Allen of Jacksonville; sons. Bennie Earl and wife Joann, and Jimmy and wife Sylvia, all of Jacksonville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alpha and Marcus Hanks, and Ava and Max Ray, all of Jacksonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bennie and Evelyn Allen, and Charlie and Sheila Allen, all of Jacksonville; sisters-in-law, Mary Allen of Houston and Oleta Chandler of Shreveport, La.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
