A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Charles Hooper, 77, was held 1/8/2002 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic church with Father William Ross officiating. Interment was at Lexington Catholic cemetery under direction of Wadley's Funeral service, Inc. Mr Hooper died 1/5/2002 at Purcell Municipal hospital.
He was born 1/10/1924 in Lexington, the son of Willie & Ethel Kershaw Hooper. He was reared at Lexington, attending school at Spring Hill. He received his diploma from Lexington high school 11/12/2001. He had lived in Lexington for the past 23 years, coming from Ada.
Mr Hooper married Betty Powell 12/28/1943 in Purcell. He was an oil field worker and district sales manager for the National Motor Club, retiring in 1975. Mr Hooper was a member of the American Legion Post 301 at Lexington, the Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of Victory Catholic church and a volunteer for the Lexington Senior Citizens Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Lillie and Cecillia Jo, and 2 brothers, Bill and John.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home, 2 sons, Dan Hooper & wife Sandy of Ft Worth, TX., and Jack Hooper & wife Lisa of Norman, a daughter, Laura Johnson & husband Bob of Ada, 2 brothers, Robert Hooper of Oklahoma City and Vince Hooper of Blanchard, a sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Lexingtn, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Knights of Columbus.
