Firemean 3rd Class Endicott was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941. He was assigned to the USS West Virginia.

Endicott, Clifford Olds and Louis "Buddy" Costin lived 16 days in the fresh water pumping station known as A-111. When the West Virginia was dry docked in 1942. Salvage workers found the remains of three sailors along with flashlight batteries, rations and a callendar with 16 days X'd out.
