Mr. and Mrs. Updike moved to Cananea, Sonora, Mexico from probably Globe, Arizona in 1922.

Mr. Updike was the Pharmacist at Hospital del Ronquillo. They were living in Cananea when Mr. Updike died. However, he died at Copper Queen Hospital in Bisbee on August 10, 1966.

"Mrs. Updike began teaching shortly after she and her husband moved to Cananea in 1922. She taught primary and intermediate grades; she re-installed the Arizona course of study, which had been dropped during the revolutionary days; she was one of the teachers during the period of lowest enrollment - 1935-1940. during that time she gave English lessons to Mexican children who were not permitted to attend the English school. Mrs. Updike retired from teaching in 1934; ...." There is an error in the dates as Mrs. Updike taught First and Second grades in the 1936-37 school year.
