Prate was the son of Jeremiah and Mary Ann (Jobe) Hackett.He married Vera Grace Morris in 1920 and they were the parents of eight children: Mary Elizabeth, William J., Frances Irene, Morris Jeanette, Prate Washington Jr., Harry Rudolph, Catherine Ann and Shirley Yvonne.

Prate W. Hackett, 93, of 2854 Hackett's Lake Road died Friday at his home.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Alamance Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A native of Guilford County, he was a retired farmer.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Coble, Mrs. Jeanette H. Holton, Mrs. Catherine Ann Church, Mrs. Shirley Johnson, all of Greensboro, Mrs. Frances Irene Michael of Pensicola, Fla.; son, Harry R. Hackett of Greensboro; 10 grandchildren.
The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. today.
