Son of Harvey J Dempsey, Sr. and Marion Schlindwein Dempsey.

Husband of Helene F. Klopotek Dempsey whom he married on St. Patrick's Day 1934 in Shorewood, WI.

Father of Penny Dempsey Yazzie.

Harvey served as a Staff Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-29B "Maniuwa" (#42-63678), 402nd Bomber Squadron, 502nd Bomber Group, 20th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 5, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a accountant and/or auditor and also as Single, without dependents.

Harvey was "Killed In Action", along with the rest of his crew, when his B-29 was hit by enemy flak and crashed into the Nippon Casting Company factory near Kawasaki, Japan during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

He was originally interred in Japan and was later repatriated here on July 19, 1949.
