m. John Salyer, Nov.l, 1821, the daughter of Thomas Wadkins, a Revolutionary War soldier. John & Polly lived in Perry Co. until around 1825, which is when they probably settled in the Half Mountain area of Magoffin Co. John paid tax on 500 acres on the Licking River in 1837; holdings eventually were in excess of 3000 acres. He owned & operated a saw mill located on the Licking River near his home. Polly, who survived John by 12 years, is buried beside her husband. A double rock marks their grave.
The children of John & Polly were: Thomas L., William W., Luanna, John J., Wiley, Arty, Mary, Morgan Mason, Benjamin F., Fielding.
