Eugene Mathews of Spiro, Oklahoma was born November 30, 1912, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and passed away May 29, 2009, in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 96.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his three daughters:
Mary Allbritton of Spiro, Oklahoma,
Janice Waters and husband: Eddie of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Linda Dix and husband: Joe of Arkoma, Oklahoma; three sons: Rex Mathews and wife, Shirley of Fort Smith, Arkansas,
Glen Mathews and wife, Beverly of Minneola, Florida, and
Neal Mathews and wife, Linda of Shelbyville, Tennessee;
16 precious Grandchildren; 29 wonderful great-grandchildren; and 21 very special great-great-grandchildren; and many good friends.
Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 71 years; one granddaughter:Ginger Johnson; one great grandson: Matthew Oxford, and one sister.
Funeral service was held on Monday, June 1, 2009, at 1:30p.m. at the 1st Baptist Church, in Arkoma, Oklahoma.
Mr. Matthews was laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery in Spiro, Oklahoma.
