A native of Moore County he was the son of the late H. Cleveland Cagle and Laler Caddell Cagle. He was a retired farmer and worked for the Department of Agriculture.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Muse Cagle; daughters, Sandra Craven and husband, Richard, of Carthage, Judy Wells and husband, James, of West End, Rhonda Shields and husband, Stan, of Carthage; and a son, Larry Cagle and wife, Beverly, of West End; a sister, Viola C. Seagroves, of Colfax; grandchildren, Tamara Lee, Shannon Cagle, Carolyn Walters, Jennifer Weiner, Shirley Shields and Norman Shields; great-grandchildren, Kinsey Lee, Rebekah Lee, Anna Lee, Matthew Walters and Sara Walters.
