SOUTHERN, Zelma Mildred, 93, of 4241 Jennings Road, Newbern, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at her residence. Born November 9, 1908, in Carroll County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Dosca Newman Jennings and Currell Jennings. She was a member of Newbern United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Walter M. Southern and Forrest J. Southern. She is survived by three sons, Fielden Ray Southern of Naperville, Ill., Calvin Currell Southern of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Ronald Elwood Southern of Harrisonburg, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Dock "Iris" Rasnake of Richlands, Va., and Ms. Doris S. Dawson of Newbern; three brothers, Troy Jennings of Newbern, Creed Jennings of Radford, and Clinton Jennings of Dublin; two sisters, Ersie J. Morris of Newbern, and Lula J. Morris of Pulaski. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Newbern Cemetery. Visiting will be anytime after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
