Thurlow V. Barley, 85, formerly of Hamburg, died Sept. 14 at 5 a.m. in the Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, where he had resided since February 2001.
His wife, Edith E. (Doerstler) Barley, died Jan. 20, 2001.
Born in Elizabethtown, he was a son of the late Martin W. and Annie M. (Boltz) Barley.
Barley was employed for 21 years as a salesman and manager by the Leeco Corp., Madison, Ohio, retiring in June 1983.
He was a graduate of Elizabethtown High School.
Barley was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where he was a former consistory member.
Barley was president of the Hamburg Rotary Club from 1993 to 1994.
He was a 32nd degree mason of Vaux Lodge 406, F&AM, Hamburg.
Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann (Barley) Stofflet, Dublin, Ohio.
Other survivors include a brother, Wilbur M., Elizabethtown; and three sisters: Mabel M. (Barley) Hostetter, Lititz, Lancaster County; Mary Jane (Barley) Buffington, Highspire, Dauphin County; and Ruth F. (Barley) Herchelroth, Bainbridge, Lancaster County.
There are also two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in First UCC. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg, is in charge of arrangements.
