Mrs. Harmon passed from this earth, Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Tyler, Texas, after nearly a six year battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born August 12, 1951 at Roff, Oklahoma to B. F. Gurley, Jr. and Barbara Ellen Kimmel Gurley. She attended Glenwood Elementary, Ada Jr. High, and graduated from Ada High School. She married Edson E. Harmon, US Army, November 13, 1969 at Ada, Oklahoma, officiated by Rev. Delbert Akin. They traveled across the Unites States and abroad during their military life. While living in Ada, Mrs. Harmon was employed for several years at Oklahoma State Bank. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, 1SG Edson E. Harmon, US Army Retired, of the home; one daughter, Kathy "DeeAnn" Blevins and husband Kent, Ada; two grandchildren, Steven Harmon Vekony, Ada, and Reagan DeLaney Blevins, Ada; and three sisters, Judy Short and husband Kenny, Ada, Lani Vasconcellos and husband Art, Ada, and Robin McConnell and husband Tifford, Holdenville. She was preceded in death by her father, B. F. Gurley, Jr. and her mother, Barbara Ellen Gurley. Bearers will be brothers-in-law, Kenny Short and Tifford McConnell, and nephews, Chad Short, Andy McConnell, Josh Huckeby, and Drew Short. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Delbert Akin will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Criswell Funeral Home Tuesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
