Daughter of William Albert Jones 1805-1854 and Frances Watkins "Fannie" Lockett 1812-1887, both from Mecklenburg County Virginia but they to Perry County Alabama before 1840.

Selina was the second child of ten, the first daughter. Her name came from her mother's mother, Selina Ann Watkins 1789-1864, from Prince Edward County Virginia but moved to Perry County Alabama after her husband Col Samuel Locke Lockett 1782-1850 died in Mecklenburg County Virginia.
