Mrs. Mabel Balke, 57, Wabash R.R. 5, died at 4 a.m. Saturday in the Wabash County Hospital following an illness of two months.
A life resident of Wabash, she had been employed as a bookkeeper for the old Wabash Cabinet Company and more recently as a practical nurse.
She was born Aug. 19, 1900 to Joseph and Myrtle (Jackson) Bantham and was married to Arthur Balke who died 20 years ago. She was a member of the Wabash Street Methodist Church but attended the Somerset Methodist Church.
Only cousins survive. A brother and sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Brenneman-Yoder funeral Home with the Rev. W.W. Shields, pastor of the Somerset Church, officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Sunday.
