Kevin Cassan Brown peacefully passed away on February 23, 1996, from complications of diabetis, at the age of 38. Kevin was born April 7, 1957, to William and Arla Brown. He graduated from Provo High School in 1975. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served a mission in Tampa, Florida. Kevin married Cynthia Lynn Dravland in the Provo LDS Temple on June 23, 1978. They moved to California where he was Assistant Manager for Skaggs Drug Center in Lancaster and Seal Beach. After two years, due to the onset of diabetic retinopathy, which caused him to be legally blind. The disability thrust him into taking a new direction. Kevin enrolled in the School for the Blind in Salt Lake City, which prepared him for his formal education at Brigham Young University. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1989. He continued his education at BYU receiving his Masters Degree in social work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Kevin received mumerous academic scholarships and honors. In 1991, he moved his family to Idaho, where he became employed by the State Department of Welfare, counseling troubled juveniles. They returned to Provo in 1993, and Kevin accepted the position of Social Services Supervisor at the State Prison in Draper. At the time of his death, he was providing group therapy to inmates. Kevin enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, weight lifting, gardening, camping and writing poems. He greatest joy was the love of his wife and five children. Through Kevin's example of enduring to the end, he was able to continue to comfort others and be an inspiration to their challenges and adversities. "Remember me not for my suffering, but how I lived my life."
