Casimer S. Sorek of Irons died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City. He was 65.

He was born on July 8, 1943 in Detroit to Stanley Joseph and Angeline E. (Przywara) Sorek, and they preceded him in death. He served in the United States Navy for four years.

Mr. Sorek had been an electronics salesman for 40 years, working for R.S. Electronics of Livonia for 20 years. He moved to Kentwood and lived there prior to moving to Irons in 1986. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac and a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 853 of Manistee.

He loved helping people, hunting, fishing, cutting wood and working outdoors and he was a Detroit sports fan.

On Jan. 27, 1967 in Detroit, he married the former Lois A. Walter, and she survives him along with their children, Christine (Chuck) Parsons of Comstock Park, Matt (Jill) Sorek of Grand Rapids and Daniel Sorek and fiancee Jennifer Brown of Holland; three granddaughters, Jessica, Rachael and Emma; a brother, Michael Sorek of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Cynthia (Gary) Sheen
